Batteries, Starting and Charging Systems

Battery Testing

Conventional load testing
Resistive test (will identify batteries that may fail within a month)
Check battery connections

Starter Testing

Check starter voltage and amperage draw

Alternator Testing

Check output (idle & 2000 RPM)
Check diodes and pattern
Check voltage ripple (idle & 2000 RPM)

Additional Testing

Draw Testing
Check for a parasitic draw that may drain a battery due to lights or a module staying on
